Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Brandon fell in love with music at a young age. He began playing piano when he was 7 years old, eventually learning percussion by age 11. Originally inspired by blues/rock guitarists Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton, Brandon picked up guitar by age 12. After moving to the Chicago suburb of Libertyville during his freshman year of high school, Brandon became very involved with playing in rock and jam bands, as well as jazz ensembles and small combo groups.
Brandon graduated with honors from DePaul University’s School of Music in June of 2013 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies. Studying under talented professors such as Bob Palmieri, Dr. Bob Lark, and Tom Matta, Brandon began to expand his musical vocabulary and technical prowess of his instrument. Working as a freelance musician and a member of two local Chicago bands, Brandon has had the experience of performing a wide variety of musical styles, primarily focused on jazz, funk, soul, rock, and blues music. He has also performed on an NBC television show alongside Colbie Caillat, toured and recorded with jazz greats Jeff Hamiliton, Jimmy Heath, and Phil Woods, and scored music for independent films.
