Born into a family native to Chicago, but raised in the Twin Cities, MN, Rob was exposed to many kinds of music at home and through his mom, who plays violin. He had his first encounter with a junior drum kit at age 6 and began to take lessons in percussion at age 10. Soon after discovering the great music of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Cream, Rob discovered jazz through the music of master drummer, Art Blakey. By High school he was playing in the Minnesota Youth Jazz Ensemble and in several local bands recording and playing venues throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul.
In 2009, Rob pursued his Bachelor in Music at DePaul University in Chicago, graduating in 2013. It was during his years at DePaul that he began to start focusing on composition in addition to the drums. With experience touring the U.K./EU and North America, he continues to work closely with Chicago-based indie bands: Sub Pop artist: Cullen Omori, YAWN, Dam Gila, Sun Cop and Atticus Lazenby Group.
